College Graduation Memories Box

I had all this little things that I had gotten for my graduation that I wanted to keep. I kept my graduation announcement box that I got in the mail because I knew I could us it for something.

I decided then that it would be the perfect place to store all of these little items that I had from graduation. Like my graduation cards, commencement books, graduation party invitation, graduation party balloons, and extra graduation announcements.

(No balloons in the picture because they still had air in them.)

I wanted to decorate the box and painting it would take to long, so I decided to spray paint it. I decided the paint it white since the box was already that color and I had white spray paint.

Once it was dried, I put everything safely inside and perfecto! I saved money from not having to buy something to put everything in and I recycled that box for a good use.

I also plan to add my university's logo on the top of the box with modge podge, but I will do that later. For now it is good enough. Hopefully you can do the same with your box or find something equally as useful to use it for.

College Graduation Party

I had a small graduation party at my parent's house with mostly family and close family friends. I thought I would share some pictures of the decorations because I thought everything turned out really great. Also sorry about the quality of the pictures and for the fact that I didn't take that many.

The party took place outside. We worried all day about when the rain was going to come. Lucky it was just a little shower at the very end of the party. We set up two food tables, a cake table, and one drink table. The day was suppose to be very hot, so we set up two tents where people were going to eat.

As your going to tell from the pictures, the color scheme was black and gold for my university's school colors.

Below are the pictures that I have of the decorations from the party:

This pictures are so close up of the decorations after the party was over. I wanted you to see them closer in case it wasn't clear in the pictures:

This is a banner that you can see in the two of the pictures. We had this wrapped around the pool deck. It was the perfect size. It looked amazing. I wish I had taken a better picture of that.
This was what was hanging from the ceiling in the porch along with black and gold curling ribbon. I wish I had gotten a picture of that because it looked amazing. I got the idea from my mom. She had decorated the ceiling one time for my birthday party and I loved it.
These are two little containers I made to put the candy in. It is just candlesticks and dishes that I found from the thrift store. I then bought paint to paint around the bottom of them. I had gotten the idea from here. I also plan to use them in my room for something. I don't know what yet.

BTW. My mom had this brilliant idea to buy a table cloth and then cut it to make runners. That is what you see on the dining tables with the graduation caps. This turned out perfect and were able to make four runners. We also ended up using one for the cake table.

College Graduate

I can not believe that I have a bachelors degree in early childhood education. It seems just yesterday I was applying to the education program at my college worrying about not getting in.

Anyways... I got a ride with a friend to the college. We got there right before they had us line up. We got in and got our name cards and took a cohort picture together and then it was time to get in line. We waited awhile in the line before they had us start walking and then we were waiting in the hallway before going into the actual arena.

The ceremony got started right on time and ended almost two hours later. At first I thought it was taking a long time having to listen to all those speeches for over an hour. Then they got started on having students cross the stage. After that it seemed to happen so fast that it was a blur.

Trying to find my family was difficult, but we were able to get another group cohort picture with most of the girls after we graduated. It was just a small area where everyone was meeting their family that it took sometime for my family to get around and meet up. We took some pictures and then we got out of there to find a place to eat because we were starving.

And that is it. Now it is just a waiting game to get hired, though I think that is going to be some time. I don't think I will find anything out until mid July when teachers have to say what they are going to do.

Graduation Here I Come

I can not believe that I am graduating from college. That I have earned my bachelor's degree. I am proud to say that I will have no student loans. It was hard work, but i was able to that do and not having to worry about that feels incredible.

Graduation is going to be happening on Thursday at 10:00 am. I am going to have to leave early because they want us there to put us in line and take pictures of use in our cap and gown. We need to be there at 8:30, but lots of people have told me if you are late then it is no big deal.

I think I am going to ride with a friend up there, so then I don't have to worry about parking which I know is going to be a mess. Then I will just drive back with my parents and if we go out to some where then we will all be together already.

The graduation is suppose to be about 2 hours long, so then it should end at 12:00. Right now the weather is looking good. Last I checked it is going to be no higher than 70 degrees. Which is amazing considering today and tomorrow are very humid and hot.

I have mixed emotions in my stomach about graduating. Mostly I am worried about tripping when I walk up the stairs and across the stage, but who isn't. Lucky for me I don't plan to wear heels, so I should be fine. Fingers crossed.

Portfolio Defense

First off, sorry I have not been posting like I should have been and after you read this then you will understand why I have been busy. I will try and and get caught up on my posts this weekend. So look for those popping up and they will be dated when they should have gone up.

Anyways....at my college we have to make a portfolio related to the InTASC Standards and these might be just for my state I don't know, but I do know it's not really something you need to know. Both my mentors have only heard of them through the interns.

I had to create the portfolio with over 33 artifacts from throughout my internships. I mostly had lesson plans that I had to type up. Also for each reflection we had to write a one page reflection about what it was and why it related to that artifact.

All in all, this whole thing was very time consuming. I also had to defend my portfolio against the professors and this determined weather or not I could graduate. Proud to say that I will be graduating. Phew.

I was nervous the night of my defense because one of the girls failed and they had said it was rare for someone to not pass and then it happened on the very first night.

Apply for Graduation

So I was not planning on applying for graduation so soon, but I looked at my academic report and everything was good. I just really wanted to get one thing out of the way, so I do not have to worry about it next month since I know I will be busy studying.

I am not sure when I will find out if I am graduating or not. I am sure it will be some time before May since I would graduate that month. I have been trying to figure out if I will be graduating with honors and I can't figure it out. The page it directs me to, to learn more information, does not exists, so I am not sure. It would be nice to graduate with honors, but I am not keeping my hopes up.

Also I finally figured out how to embed Google Docs to wikispaces. We use wikispaces for our portfolios and I had copied and pasted the documents and it looked horrible. So far I have only embed three documents, so I still have a lot more to complete, but just knowing how to do it is a big step.
